English Standard Version

No servant can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money.

Luke 16:13

If anyone serves me, he must follow me; and where I am, there will my servant be also. If anyone serves me, the Father will honor him.

John 12:26

Luke 16 (English Standard Version)

10 “One who is faithful in a very little is also faithful in much, and one who is dishonest in a very little is also dishonest in much.
11 If then you have not been faithful in the unrighteous wealth, who will entrust to you the true riches?
12 And if you have not been faithful in that which is another's, who will give you that which is your own?
13 No servant can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money.”
14 The Pharisees, who were lovers of money, heard all these things, and they ridiculed him.
15 And he said to them,
“You are those who justify yourselves before men, but God knows your hearts. For what is exalted among men is an abomination in the sight of God.
16 “The Law and the Prophets were until John; since then the good news of the kingdom of God is preached, and everyone forces his way into it.

John 12 (English Standard Version)

23 And Jesus answered them,
“The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified.
24 Truly, truly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit.
25 Whoever loves his life loses it, and whoever hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life.
26 If anyone serves me, he must follow me; and where I am, there will my servant be also. If anyone serves me, the Father will honor him.
27 “Now is my soul troubled. And what shall I say? ‘Father, save me from this hour’? But for this purpose I have come to this hour.
28 Father, glorify your name.”
Then a voice came from heaven: “I have glorified it, and I will glorify it again.”
29 The crowd that stood there and heard it said that it had thundered. Others said, “An angel has spoken to him.”

John 12:26

Luke 16 (Free Bible Version)

10 If you can be trusted with very little you can also be trusted with much; if you are dishonest with very little you will also be dishonest with much.
11 So if you can't be trusted when it comes to worldly wealth, who will trust you with true riches?
12 And if you can't be trusted with what belongs to someone else, who will trust you with what is yours?
13 No servant can obey two masters. Either he will hate one and love the other, or he will be devoted to one and despise the other. You can't serve both God and Money.”
14 The Pharisees, who loved money, heard what Jesus said and laughed at him.
15 But Jesus told them, “You appear pious to people, but God knows what you're thinking. What people value highly is detested by God.
16 What was written in the law and the prophets lasted until John. From then on the good news of the kingdom of God is being spread, and everyone is forcing their way in.

John 12 (Free Bible Version)

23 Jesus replied, “The time has come for the Son of man to be glorified.
24 I tell you the truth: unless a grain of wheat is planted in the soil and dies, it remains just one grain. But if it dies, it produces many more grains of wheat.
25 If you love your own life you will lose it, but if you don't love your own life in this world you will keep your life forever.
26 If you want to serve me you need to follow me. My servants will be where I am, and my Father will honor anyone who serves for me.
27 Now I am troubled. What should I say? ‘Father, save me from this coming time of suffering?’ No, for this is why I came—to go through this time of suffering.
28 Father, show the glory of your character.”
A voice came from heaven, saying, “I have shown its glory, and I will show it again.”
29 The crowd that was standing there heard it. Some said it thundered; others said an angel had spoken to him.
