English Standard Version

Can a blind man lead a blind man? Will they not both fall into a pit? A disciple is not above his teacher, but everyone when he is fully trained will be like his teacher.

Luke 6:39-40

The Lord opens the eyes of the blind.

Psalm 146:8

Luke 6 (English Standard Version)

36 Be merciful, even as your Father is merciful.
37 “Judge not, and you will not be judged; condemn not, and you will not be condemned; forgive, and you will be forgiven;
38 give, and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure you use it will be measured back to you.”
39 He also told them a parable:
“Can a blind man lead a blind man? Will they not both fall into a pit?
40 A disciple is not above his teacher, but everyone when he is fully trained will be like his teacher.
41 Why do you see the speck that is in your brother's eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye?
42 How can you say to your brother, ‘Brother, let me take out the speck that is in your eye,’ when you yourself do not see the log that is in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take out the speck that is in your brother's eye.

Psalm 146 (English Standard Version)

5 Blessed is he whose help is the God of Jacob,
whose hope is in the Lord his God,
6 who made heaven and earth,
the sea, and all that is in them,
who keeps faith forever;
7 who executes justice for the oppressed,
who gives food to the hungry.
The Lord sets the prisoners free;
8 the Lord opens the eyes of the blind.
The Lord lifts up those who are bowed down;
the Lord loves the righteous.
9 The Lord watches over the sojourners;
he upholds the widow and the fatherless,
but the way of the wicked he brings to ruin.
10 The Lord will reign forever,
your God, O Zion, to all generations.
Praise the Lord!

Free Bible Version

Can a blind person lead another? Wouldn't they both fall into a ditch? Do students know more than the teacher? Only when they've learned everything: then they will be like their teacher.

Luke 6:39-40

The Lord makes the blind see.

Psalm 146:8

Luke 6 (Free Bible Version)

36 Be compassionate, just as your Father is compassionate.
37 Don't judge, and you won't be judged; don't condemn, and you won't be condemned; forgive, and you'll be forgiven;
38 give, and you will be given generously in return. When what you're given is measured out, it's pressed down so more can be added, spilling out over the top, pouring into your lap! For how much you give will determine how much you receive.”
39 Then he illustrated the point: “Can a blind person lead another? Wouldn't they both fall into a ditch?
40 Do students know more than the teacher? Only when they've learned everything: then they will be like their teacher.
41 Why are you so worried about the speck that's in your brother's eye when you don't even notice the plank that's in your own eye?
42 How can you say to your brother, ‘Brother, let me take out the speck that's in your eye,’ when you don't even see the plank that's in your own eye? Hypocrite! Take out the plank from your own eye first, and then you'll be able to see well enough to take out the speck from your brother's eye.
43 A good tree doesn't produce bad fruit, and a bad tree doesn't produce good fruit.
