An Bíobla Naofa 1981

Ná glac breab, óir dallann breab daoine géara, agus milleann sí cúis na n-ionraic.

Eaxodus 23:8

Dúil san airgead is bun do gach olc.

1 Tiomóid 6:10

Eaxodus 23 (An Bíobla Naofa 1981)

5 Má fheiceann tú asal fear d’fhuatha ar lár faoina ualach, in áit é a sheachaint, téigh i gcabhair air á thógáil.
6 Ná déan éigean ar chearta aon bhochtáin libh ina chaingean.
7 I bhfad uait aon chúis bhréagach, agus ná cuir chun báis an fíréan ionraic óir ní scaoilfidh mise saor an ciontach.
8 Ná glac breab, óir dallann breab daoine géara, agus milleann sí cúis na n-ionraic.
9 Ná déan leatrom ar an deoraí; is aithnid duit croí an deoraí, óir ba dheoraithe sibh i dtír na hÉigipte.
10 Cuir d’fhearann ar feadh sé bliana, agus cruinnigh a fhómhar,
11 ach an seachtú bliain fág ina bhranar é gan saothrú, i dtreo go bhféadfaidh bochta do phobail bia a fháil uaidh, agus go bhféadfaidh na hainmhithe allta a bhfuílleach a bheith acu mar bhia. Déan mar an gcéanna leis an bhfíonghort agus leis an doire ológ.

1 Tiomóid 6 (An Bíobla Naofa 1981)

7 Mar níor thugamar aon ní isteach sa saol ná ní féidir dúinn aon ní a thógáil as.
8 Dá réir sin má bhíonn bia agus éadach againn, beimid sásta.
9 Iad sin a mbíonn dúil sa saibhreas acu titeann siad i gcathú agus gabhtar sa líon iad ag na hainmhianta iomadúla baotha díobhálacha úd a tharraingíonn daoine ar bhealach a millte agus a mbascaithe.
10 Dúil san airgead is bun do gach olc, agus le barr dúile ann tá daoine áirithe imithe ar fán ón gcreideamh agus is iomaí arraing atá curtha trína gcroí féin acu.
11 Ach ós óglach Dé tusa, seachain na nithe sin. Bíodh tóir agat ar an bhfíréantacht, ar an gcráifeacht, ar an gcreideamh, ar an ngrá, ar an bhfoighne agus ar an láchas.
12 Fear cath an chreidimh go calma agus bain amach an bheatha shíoraí, mar is chun na beatha sin a fuair tú an glaoch nuair a rinne tú an dea-admháil chreidimh i láthair mórán finnéithe.
13 I láthair Dé a thugann beatha don uile ní, agus i láthair Chríost Íosa a rinne a dhea-admháil féin chreidimh os comhair Phoint Pióláit, achtaím ort,

You shall take no bribe, for a bribe blinds the clear-sighted and subverts the cause of those who are in the right.

Exodus 23:8

The love of money is a root of all kinds of evils.

1 Timothy 6:10

Eaxodus 23 (English Standard Version)

5 If you see the donkey of one who hates you lying down under its burden, you shall refrain from leaving him with it; you shall rescue it with him.
6 “You shall not pervert the justice due to your poor in his lawsuit.
7 Keep far from a false charge, and do not kill the innocent and righteous, for I will not acquit the wicked.
8 And you shall take no bribe, for a bribe blinds the clear-sighted and subverts the cause of those who are in the right.
9 “You shall not oppress a sojourner. You know the heart of a sojourner, for you were sojourners in the land of Egypt.
10 “For six years you shall sow your land and gather in its yield,
11 but the seventh year you shall let it rest and lie fallow, that the poor of your people may eat; and what they leave the beasts of the field may eat. You shall do likewise with your vineyard, and with your olive orchard.

1 Tiomóid 6 (English Standard Version)

7 for we brought nothing into the world, and we cannot take anything out of the world.
8 But if we have food and clothing, with these we will be content.
9 But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation, into a snare, into many senseless and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction.
10 For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evils. It is through this craving that some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many pangs.
11 But as for you, O man of God, flee these things. Pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, steadfastness, gentleness.
12 Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called and about which you made the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.
13 I charge you in the presence of God, who gives life to all things, and of Christ Jesus, who in his testimony before Pontius Pilate made the good confession,
