An Bíobla Naofa 1981

Dúirt Íosa:

Dá mbeadh aithne agaibh ormsa, d’aithneodh sibh m’Athair chomh maith.

Eoin 14:7

Rinne Íosa guí:

Is í seo an bheatha shíoraí: iad a chur aithne ortsa, an t-aon Dia fírinneach amháin, agus ar Íosa Críost, a chuir tú uait.

Eoin 17:3

Eoin 14 (An Bíobla Naofa 1981)

4 Tá eolas na slí agaibh mar a bhfuilim ag dul.”
5 Dúirt Tomás leis: “A Thiarna, ní eol dúinn cá bhfuil tú ag dul agus cén chaoi is féidir dúinn eolas na slí a bheith againn?”
6 Dúirt Íosa leis:
“Is mise an tslí, an fhírinne agus an bheatha.
Ní thagann aon duine go dtí an tAthair ach tríomsa.
7 Dá mbeadh aithne agaibh ormsa,
d’aithneodh sibh m’Athair chomh maith.
Tá aithne agaibh air feasta,
agus tá radharc faighte agaibh air.”
8 Dúirt Pilib leis: “A Thiarna, taispeáin dúinn an tAthair agus is leor dúinn sin.”
9 Dúirt Íosa leis: “An bhfuilim an fad sin aimsire, a Philib, in bhur measc agus gan aithne agat orm?
An té a chonaic mise, chonaic sé an tAthair.
Conas, mar sin, a deir tú:
‘Taispeáin dúinn an tAthair’?
10 Nach gcreideann tú go bhfuilimse san Athair
agus an tAthair ionamsa?
Na briathra a labhraímse libh,
ní uaim féin a labhraím iad,
ach an tAthair atá ina chónaí ionamsa,
eisean a dhéanann na hoibreacha.

Eoin 17 (An Bíobla Naofa 1981)

1 Dúirt Íosa an chaint sin agus ar thógáil a shúl chun na bhflaitheas dúirt sé:
“A Athair, tá an uair tagtha.
Tabhair glóir do do Mhac,
ionas go dtabharfadh do Mhac glóir duit:
2 faoi mar a thug tú cumhacht dó ar an uile dhuine,
ionas, gach duine a thug tú dó,
go dtabharfaidh sé an bheatha shíoraí dóibh.
3 Is í seo an bheatha shíoraí:
iad a chur aithne ortsa, an t-aon Dia fírinneach amháin,
agus ar Íosa Críost, a chuir tú uait.
4 Thug mise glóir duit ar talamh;
tá an obair déanta agam a thug tú dom le déanamh.
5 Agus anois mar sin, a Athair,
tabhair-sé glóir domsa i do láthair
leis an nglóir chéanna a bhí agam i do láthair,
sula raibh an domhan ann.
6 D’fhoilsigh mé d’ainm
do na daoine a thug tú dom as an saol;
ba leatsa iad, agus thug tú domsa iad,
agus tá do bhriathar coinnithe acu.

Eoin 14 (English Standard Version)

4 And you know the way to where I am going.”
5 Thomas said to him, “Lord, we do not know where you are going. How can we know the way?”
6 Jesus said to him,
“I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
7 If you had known me, you would have known my Father also. From now on you do know him and have seen him.”
8 Philip said to him, “Lord, show us the Father, and it is enough for us.”
9 Jesus said to him,
“Have I been with you so long, and you still do not know me, Philip? Whoever has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’?
10 Do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me? The words that I say to you I do not speak on my own authority, but the Father who dwells in me does his works.

Eoin 17 (English Standard Version)

1 When Jesus had spoken these words, he lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said,
“Father, the hour has come; glorify your Son that the Son may glorify you,
2 since you have given him authority over all flesh, to give eternal life to all whom you have given him.
3 And this is eternal life, that they know you the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.
4 I glorified you on earth, having accomplished the work that you gave me to do.
5 And now, Father, glorify me in your own presence with the glory that I had with you before the world existed.
6 “I have manifested your name to the people whom you gave me out of the world. Yours they were, and you gave them to me, and they have kept your word.
