D’fhuascail Críost ó mhallacht an dlí sinn nuair a rinneadh rud mallaithe de féin ar ár son.

1 Bhíodar ag léamh as leabhar Mhaois don phobal um an dtaca sin agus fuair siad scríofa ann: “Ní bheidh cead isteach go deo i gcomhthionól Dé ag an Amónach ná ag an Móábach
2 de bhrí nár thángadar in araicis chlann Iosrael le harán agus le huisce. D’fhostaigh siad Balám ina n-aghaidh le mallacht a chur orthu ach rinne ár nDia beannacht den mhallacht.”
3 A luaithe a chuala an pobal an dlí, dheighil siad gach aon duine de phór deoranta ó Iosrael.
4 Ceapadh Eiliáisíb an sagart roimhe sin ina reachtaire ar sheomraí Theampall ár nDé. Bhí gaol aige le Tóibíá,
5 agus chóirigh sé seomra fairsing dósan, seomra ina mbíodh na habhlanna, an túis, na soithí, na deachúna arbhair, ola agus fíona á gcoimeád acu roimhe sin; ba é a bhí i gceist leis na nithe sin ná an chuid a bhí dlite do na Léivítigh, na cantairí, na gardaí geata, agus do na sagairt.

Galataigh 3 (An Bíobla Naofa 1981)

10 Iad siúd atá ag brath ar an dlí, áfach, tá mallacht anuas orthu, mar tá scríofa: “Is mallaithe gach n-aon nach gcloíonn lena bhfuil scríofa i leabhar an dlí agus iad a chur i gcrích.”
11 Is léir nach bhfíréanaítear duine ar bith ag an dlí i bhfianaise Dé, mar “is le creideamh a mhairfidh an fíréan”.
12 Ní ar chreideamh atá an dlí ag brath, áfach, mar is é a deirtear sa dlí “an té a dhéanfaidh na nithe seo beidh sé beo dá mbarr”.
13 Ach d’fhuascail Críost ó mhallacht an dlí sinn nuair a rinneadh rud mallaithe de féin ar ár son mar tá scríofa: “Is mallaithe cách a chrochtar ar chrann.”
14 Tharla amhlaidh chun go dtitfeadh beannacht Abrahám ar na gintlithe in Íosa Críost agus go bhfaighimisne, tríd an gcreideamh, an Spiorad a bhí geallta.
15 Tógaimis sampla ón ngnáthshaol, a bhráithre. Nuair a bhíonn uacht daingnithe mar is cuí, ní dhéanann aon duine í a chealú ná cur léi.
16 Anois, is d’Abrahám agus dá shíol a tugadh na gealltanais, agus féach ní “do do shíolta” atá ráite faoi mar bheifí ag tagairt dá lán daoine, ach “do do shíol” – ag tagairt don aon duine amháin, is é sin, do Chríost.

Galatians 3:13

Nihimiá 13 (English Standard Version)

1 On that day they read from the Book of Moses in the hearing of the people. And in it was found written that no Ammonite or Moabite should ever enter the assembly of God,
2 for they did not meet the people of Israel with bread and water, but hired Balaam against them to curse them—yet our God turned the curse into a blessing.
3 As soon as the people heard the law, they separated from Israel all those of foreign descent.
4 Now before this, Eliashib the priest, who was appointed over the chambers of the house of our God, and who was related to Tobiah,
5 prepared for Tobiah a large chamber where they had previously put the grain offering, the frankincense, the vessels, and the tithes of grain, wine, and oil, which were given by commandment to the Levites, singers, and gatekeepers, and the contributions for the priests.

Galataigh 3 (English Standard Version)

10 For all who rely on works of the law are under a curse; for it is written, “Cursed be everyone who does not abide by all things written in the Book of the Law, and do them.”
11 Now it is evident that no one is justified before God by the law, for “The righteous shall live by faith.”
12 But the law is not of faith, rather “The one who does them shall live by them.”
13 Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us—for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who is hanged on a tree”—
14 so that in Christ Jesus the blessing of Abraham might come to the Gentiles, so that we might receive the promised Spirit through faith.
15 To give a human example, brothers: even with a man-made covenant, no one annuls it or adds to it once it has been ratified.
16 Now the promises were made to Abraham and to his offspring. It does not say, “And to offsprings,” referring to many, but referring to one, “And to your offspring,” who is Christ.
